As part of the COVID -19 Operation Plan to assist the Government’s efforts to prevent any outbreak of the virus in Solomon Islands, officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) and Correctional Services of Solomon Islands (CSSI) at Lata in the Temotu Province joined Temotu Provincial Unified COVID-19 Awareness Team, conducting awareness talks on the virus in communities throughout the Province.
Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Temotu Province Superintendent James Toaki says, “The COVID-19 Awareness Team covered communities in Santa Cruz, Reef Islands, Vanikoro, Duff and Utupua Islands. Officers will also travel with the Unified Team to Neo Island for an awareness talks today, the remaining ward on Santa Cruz Island. Tikopia and Anuta Islands will be covered by a lead team (Health Department) to conduct awareness meetings who are now on board MV Vatud Star to the two Islands.”
“Despite the country’s eastern border with Vanuatu not declared an Emergency Zone by the Government, it is important that we educate our people on how to protect themselves from the coronavirus,” says PPC Toaki
He adds: “Let us all work together so our country can go through this challenge we all face. Let us follow whatever measures the Government put into place. Let us have the full understanding and cooperation of our people.”
