Police respond to a damage incident in South Malaita following election result

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) on operation in Malaita have responded to a damage incident in South Malaita after a former Member of Parliament retained his seat.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Malaita, Superintendent Leslie Kili said the initial report received this morning (21 April 2024) from Maka Police Station that men from the Bulu community attacked the Walande community.

PPC Kili said water source, church building and dwelling houses had been damaged during the attack.

Superintendent Kili said a person has been injured and rushed to Tawaro clinic for medical attention.

Mr. Kili said currently police are on the ground to deal with the matter and Auki police will shortly send an investigation team to investigate the real motive behind the incident.

“I appeal to my good people from the Walande and Bulu community to work closely with the police on this matter so that there is no difference between you,” said PPC Kili.
