Police opens inquiry into death of man in GP

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at the Henderson Police Station in Guadalcanal Province are conducting an enquiry into the death of a 35-year-old male person. His body was discovered at the Mbarade River, east of Guadalcanal on 24 May 2021.

An initial report says that the deceased left his home village and went for fishing further in-land on the Mbarande River on 21 May 2021. He however failed to return home on the same day. Family members and relatives conducted a search and discovered the deceased body on a water fall at Mbarade River.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Guadalcanal Province Chief Superintendent Alfred Uiga says the matter was reported to Henderson Police Station by members of the deceased’s family however due to the distance and no vehicle access road, police was unable to attend to the scene of incident.

“Our condolences to the family and relatives of the deceased for the loss of their loved one,” he said.

The body of the deceased has been taken to his home village by families and relatives for burial.

Uiga says an enquiry file has been established and police is calling on communities at Mbarade to come forward with any information that may relate to the death of the man.
