PM visits frontliners at SI/PNG border

PRIME Minister Manasseh Sogavare has saluted frontliners for their continuous commitment and sacrifice in keeping our border safe.

The Prime Minister and his delegation today travelled to Nila then to Kulutanai in the Shortland Islands where they met with the frontliners.

Speaking to the frontliners, the Prime Minister said he has always been briefed on the challenges faced by frontliners at the border but he is humbled to come down and see for himself first hand.

The Prime Minister also took the opportunity to reiterate his sincere gratitude for the commitment and sacrifice of frontliners that have left their families behind to serve and protect the country.

“It is a tough decision but the commitment you have made to keep our borders safe must be saluted,” he said.

The Prime Minister told the frontliners that the people of Solomon Islands owed them a lot for their service.

Prime Minister Sogavare said despite the challenges faced by frontliners they have continued to keep our border safe.

“Thank you for staying true to your badge and the oath you have taken to serve this country,” he said.

The frontliners also shared with the Prime Minister the day-to-day challenges faced at the border.

Prime Minister Sogavare said he is humbled to hear the concerns raised by the frontliners and what needs to be done at the western border.

The Prime Minister also briefed the frontliners on the Government’s Covid 19 vaccine roll out program.

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister has also toured the border redline that crossed between Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands on patrol boat Gizo.

He was accompanied by his cabinet ministers and senior government officials.

Frontliners at the border have spoken highly of the Prime Minister and thanked him for his humbleness in taking time to experience first hand the situation at the border.

Prime Minister Sogavare and his delegation have arrived back in Taro on Patrol Boat Gizo in preparation for the 2^nd Appointed Day celebrations tomorrow (Thursday 25^th Feb).
