Officers Complete Records Management Training

A total of 22 public officers from 13 Government Ministries have completed a record management training, co- facilitated by Institute of Public Administration and Management (IPAM) and the National Archives last week.

The three days training generally covers the importance of recordkeeping and how to create, archive, protect and destroy records.

IPAM Director Solomon Manea highlighted that Records Management is a vital component of governance.

“A well-kept records or registry system, always result in quality and good governance.

“Records Management training imparts important knowledge and skills that supports officers to follow procedures in records management and general registry practices.”

National Archives Senior Officer, Bernard Rizu, also emphasized on the importance of abiding to the Archives Act and its co-relation with registry process across government ministries.

One of the participants, Abraham Maezama, who is a Correctional Officer said overall, he was extremely satisfied with the content and pace of the training and the facilitator’s practical exercises given.

“We realize the important of registry process from this training and will strive to improve the current practices in our divisions.

“Officers in the corporate services must apply for this important training,” said officer Maezama.

The training concluded with workplace practical exercise presentations and certification.

IPAM will continue to offer this training in 2022.
