The New Zealand High Commission through its Embassy Fund is assisting to obtain solar lighting for two girls’ dormitories at the Ramah Community High School in Wainoni village, Makira Province.

Maelyn Tako, a business studies teacher at the school visited the High Commission office in Honiara last week to talk about the project and received the cheque on behalf of the school.

She explained that primary motivation for seeking the lighting is because Ramah school has experienced a few break-ins over the years in the dormitories.

“As a result the school has seen the need for the girls dormitory to be rehabilitated with better and more reliable lighting for the safety of the girls who board there.

“We look forward to seeing the completion of this project and hope that the girls feel safer once the new solar security lighting in and around their dormitories is installed,” she said.
