Minister for the Ministry of Rural Development Honorable Duddley Kopu encourages his staff to serve the ministry and the country diligently.
He spoke to MRD staff and the senior management team this morning (Wednesday 3rd August 2022) during MRD’s first-ever monthly meeting initiated by Permanent Secretary Dr. Samson Viulu.
Honorable Kopu emphasized the importance of being a public servant and what it means to serve the country diligently.
“This initiative reminds me of my time as a public servant in the 90s for 24 years.
“During my time as a public servant time management is of paramount importance, by 8:00 am from Monday to Friday we should be in our office or workstation.”
“We have to work until 10:00 am before we can take our break strictly for 15 minutes and not more than that,” he said.
“This is just an example,” Hon. Kopu told his staff.
In summary Hon. Kopu said we must continue to uphold our good work ethics and practice what the general public and the government expect of us.
He further added that working together as a team for a common goal is also important.
“We are here to implement our Government policies and our Ministry is no exception, we need to work together and help each other to implement our government’s policies for the benefit of our country,” added.
But while we serve our government and our people, he said let us not forget we have our respective families to look after.
“Let us not forget that our respective families are also our priority and we must continue to have something in place for them after we serve our government and its people,” he expressed.
Meanwhile, PS Dr Viulu thanked the minister for his continuous support and for the timely reminder concerning MRD staff.
“We will continue with this monthly staff meeting to keep us together and support each other as we work to achieve the mandate and vision of MRD,” he added.
MRD staff also took this opportunity to interact with the senior management team, PS and the Minister.
