“I would like to congratulate Mr. Honimae in his new role as SIBC’s General Manager and looks forward to working closely with him for the development of the media industry in the country”, Ms. Kekea said.

She says Mr. Honimae is not new in the media sector as he was General Manager of SIBC and President of the Pacific Islands News Association (PINA) in the early 2000s during the height of the ethnic crisis in Solomon Islands.

“Mr. Honimae comes with a wealth of knowledge and experience in the media industry and will be a great asset to the corporation and the media industry during this time of COVID-19”, Ms. Kekea said.

She says, “SIBC being the national broadcaster plays a crucial role in the media sector and it is very important that they perform to the standard expected of them especially when it comes to news and information during this time of pandemic”.

The MASI President also thanked the former General Manager Mr. Ronald Buaoka for his support to MASI in the past years and wished him well in his new endeavors.
