A passenger has died whilst three others are in critical condition following a fatal accident over the weekend at the Kukum Highway early Sunday morning (between 1 to 2am).
Commissioner of Police Mostyn Mangau said the grey Toyota Caldina car was travelling in the westerly direction when it hit the edge of the median stripe (on entry to St Nicholas opposite Saru Beach) then flipped off road and landed forcefully next to the concrete shop on the road side. As a result, one person who was a passenger at the back seat was pronounced death on arrival at the hospital with three others seriously injured.
He confirmed that all four were drunk when the accident happened.
Mangau discourages people from driving whilst they are drunk. He adds that with the improvement of Honiara roads drivers must be careful and not to over speed to avoid such fatal accidents.
