Man arrested following killing on Guadalcanal

Police have arrested a male adult for alleged murder of a 55-year-old man in Guadalcanal Province.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) have arrested a male adult person for the allegation of murder at Boromole Village at Komuporo area in north Guadalcanal early morning (6 September 2022).

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Guadalcanal Province, Chief Superintendent Rodney Kuma says it is alleged that the suspect had an argument with the deceased and they confronted each other.

“It was dark at that time of the incident so other family members could not see what actions really happened and all of sudden the deceased fell on to the ground,” Kuma states.

He adds: “The suspect then turned to other family members and assaulted them as well. Shortly after the incident, the suspect’s older brother came and chased the him out and helped the deceased.”

Kuma says the deceased was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital and pronounced dead on arrival.

The dead body is currently at the National Referral Hospital morgue, pending post-mortem.

Investigation into the matter is continuing.

Police appeals to anyone at Boromole Village or Komuporo area to come forward with information to assist police with their investigation.
