Malango SSEC members give free local food to NRH
The National Referral Hospital got surprise visitors today who brought smiles not only to those work there but the entire hospital as they received free local food from Malango South Seas Evangelical Church (SSEC) Association members.
The eight churches who make up the Malango SSEC Association decided to wholeheartedly donated the food they collected as part of their thanksgiving to the patients of the NRH.
“We met and agreed to give our thanksgiving food to the hospital,” said Alick Vari, the treasurer of the association.
Speaking from his home village in the Central Guadalcanal tonight, Vari said the food which included root-crops, vegetables and fruits is a show of their love to the patients at the NRH.
“We don’t visit them but the food is our prayer as it comes with our message of love to our sick people,” he said.
He stated this is a very difficult time especially with the challenge brought about by COVID-19—so they decided to support the hospital at least for a day.
“Our support though small will help the hospital. Everybody was happy to see us. And we too were happy to give,” he said.
He said following today’s support to the hospital they are considering this to be an annual event on their church calendar.
