A last minute appeal with the support of the parents has enabled six children to travel on Saturday to Fiji for life changing heart surgery there.
Facing the prospect of not going, the parents teamed up with Dr. Bardley Ludawane of the National Referral Hospital mounted a last minute appeal including posts on social media for crowd funding. That had paid off as the six children with their parents had secured enough funds to travel over the weekend.
“All six children have travelled. Big acknowledgement to those who have supported the children. Especially, the families of these children, wantoks and friends. Also, to mention the Hon Speaker of Parliament (Patteson Oti) and few donors from the public,” Dr Ludawane told SBMOnline tonight.
The children were selected after an echo screening in mid-June to undergo free of charge surgery at the Sanjeevani Children’s Heart Hospital.
