A man shot his sister with a knife after he was angry that she reported him to their mother for eating peanut they were told not to eat. The woman died later in hospital following the knifing incident.
 The male was arrested by police on 11th January and charged with murder.
Commissioner of Police Mostyn Managu described the incident as a sad one which happened on January 5th at Sumate area in West Guadalcanal.
It was alleged that the mother of both the deceased and the suspect told them not to eat nuts she prepared for market the next day before she went to church.
However, Mangau said when the mother left, the suspect took some of the nuts and ate them.
When the mother returned from church the victim (sister) reported that his brother had eaten some nuts.
Mangau said the suspect, her brother, got very angry and shot his sister (deceased) with a bush knife whilst she was washing rice at a tank nearby. The knife went straight in her right leg coming out on the other side.
The victim (deceased) was transported for medical attention at the National Referral Hospital but died a few days after the incident.
 The suspect was charged with one count of murder contrary to section 200 of the penal code and is currently remanded at the Correctional Service of Solomon Islands (CSSI) to appear before Honiara Central Magistrates’ Court on a later date.
