Israel keen to offer agriculture scholarships to Solomon Islands

The Government of Israel is keen to offer ten Agriculture scholarships to Solomon Islands which is expected to progress later this year.

This was announced during bilateral talks between Foreign Affairs Minister Jeremiah Manele and the President of Israel Reuven Rivlin in Nadi, Fiji Thursday last week.

Minister Manele represented Solomon Islands at a meeting by the Pacific Leaders with the President of Israel in Nadi last week to strengthen cordial relations with the pacific region.

The two leaders also discussed issues relating to our development cooperation framework towards strengthening the engagement between both countries.

President Rivlin highlighted that Israel will continue to support the region in terms of knowledge sharing, scholarships, and through technical cooperation.

Minister Manele pledged Solomon Islands commitment to work closely with Israel to enhance cooperation between both countries.

Solomon Islands and Israel have enjoyed thirty-one (31) years of cordial relations since January 1989.

The Leaders’ Summit was held purposely to explore creative ideas, new paths and to proactively engage with the Pacific Islands Countries (PICs).

Discussions were also based on common areas regarding sustainable development such as agriculture, water management, renewable energy, food security and public health.
