AUSTRALIAN HIGH COMMISSIONER ROD HILTON WELCOMES BACK FIRST SOLOMON ISLANDERS
His Excellency Rod Hilton, Australian High Commissioner, met the first Solomon Islands nationals returning from Israel today at Henderson Airport. After a long journey through Dubai, Sydney and Brisbane, 32 Solomon Islanders arrived home in Honiara on today’s flight.
““I am very happy to have helped our Solomon Islands friends to come home safely, given the challenging situation in Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories”, High Commissioner Hilton said. “Australia is proud to have supported Solomon Islands in this time of need.”
“I would like to thank the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade for their cooperation with this operation, and acknowledge the support of the Solomon Islands High Commission to Australia.”
A further 47 Solomon Islanders are set to return to Honiara on Saturday.
“I am pleased to see the smiling faces of today’s arrivals, and we will continue to work with the Solomon Islands Government until the entire delegation has returned safe and sound,” High Commissioner Hilton said.
