HCC calls for cooperation from public

The Honiara City Council is calling on all residence and the General Public for their cooperation on the preparations and actions to respond to the Coronavirus pandemic in the country.

In a statement HCC, said following instructions from the Prime Minister in his address to the Nation on Thursday 19th, Honiara City Council made a call to inform the public to assist and support HCC on actions that will be taken.

  1. Honiara Central Market will remain open until further notice
  2. Kukum Market will close indefinatly from today Monday 23rd March 2020.
  3. Fishing Village market will close indefinitely from today Monday 23rd March 2020
  4. All illegal markets, makeshift betelnut markets within Honiara City Boundary and Guadalcanal Province from the eastern town boundary to Alligato creek and from the western town boundary to Poha will be closed by today 23 March 2020.

“HCC would like to ask the support and understanding of community leaders, chiefs, elders and all residence to be cooperative during the operations that will be carried out.”

“The HCC Law Enforcement Division with the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) will be carrying out the operations.

“Everyone are therefore advised to be cooperative to help in the collaborative effort on the actions to respond to the Coronavirus pandemic.”
