The Law Enforcement Division of the Honiara City Council has taken delivery of a new land cruiser vehicle to assist in their operations.

In a brief ceremony, Mayor Wilson Mamae said with the COVID 19 affecting revenue and other drawbacks, it is HCC’s goal to keep Honiara clean, safe and healthy and procuring the new land cruiser is crucial. Mamae said on another note, the Coordination and Monitoring Cabinet Committee of the Solomon Islands Government chaired by the Prime Minister has asked to inform on matters in the city.

“With the matters raised by the Coordination and Monitoring Cabinet Committee, I challenge Law Enforcement Officers to perform and deliver that we monitor and eliminate all road side stalls within Honiara.”

“Also assist in fostering development of West and East Honiara markets, support the preparation plans of the Pacific Games 2023, assist in enforcing State of Public Emergency Regulations and control and manage illegal squatters in Honiara,” he said.

The Mayor further said that HCC on one hand is doing it’s best, and questioned when the National Government will lend a helping hand and deliver 10 motor cycles that were promised to strengthen the Law Enforcement Division. Mamae said the delivery of the new land cruiser will take many steps forward to implement City ordinances in the city and urge the officers to take good care of the vehicle and use it wisely.
