A 66-year-old grandfather were arrested for allegedly raping his 9-year-old granddaughter in Malaita Province last year 2019.
Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Malaita Province, Superintendent Solomon Sisimia says his officers in Auki are now conducting investigation into the matter.
The incident allegedly occurred on five different occasions since last year in a village in the East Kwara’ae region.
PPC Sisimia says the grandfather is charged for rape and now in police custody awaiting his first court appearance on 25January 2020 while the victim (young child) is currently with the police for further investigations.
“I am deeply concerned about the current trend of such incidents and I would like to call on the good people of Malaita Province to stand up against such incidents and report all cases to the police without delay.”
