Twelve Solomon Islanders are currently studying in Indonesia under their government’s scholarship schemes, with eight the latest to join those already at various universities across the country.
Indonesia’s Honorary Consul in Solomon Islands Roland Piko said eight were selected from competitive scholarship applications. Of the eight, four are doing masters degree and the other four bachelor degrees.
The students are offered studies under the Indonesia governments scholarship schemes in KNB Scholarships and the Indonesia Aid Scholarship or TIAS.
Piko said 23 Solomon Islanders had applied and eight were successful. He stated that “our applicants were competing against the rest of the students around the world.”
