3 months old Roxley Bebeto did not hesitate to hold back his cute smile to the Honorable Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare when they met today ( Friday 11 Dec) morning at the National Referral Hospital’s (NRH) Children Ward.
This special encounter was made possible through an invitation by the Samaritan Purse, a local faith based Christian group to the Prime Minister and wife, Madam Emmy Sogavare to hand over Christmas gifts they received from their networks of friends from overseas to all the children currently being admitted at the NRH.
Parents were emotional by the visit and presentation of gifts with a mother fighting back tears of joy that her little baby though admitted at the hospital gets to receive an early Christmas gift from the country’s Prime Minister and wife.
During the visit both the Prime Minister and wife assured parents and the children that they are in the safe hands of the doctors and nurses while wishing them God’s blessing for speedy recovery and a very happy merry Christmas and a prosperous new year 2021.
Prime Minister Sogavare thanked Samaritan Purse for the invitation stating that it was indeed an honor for him and Madam Sogavare to accept the invitation and hand over the Gifts to the Children.
He also acknowledged the work of doctors and nurses at the Pediatrics ward for their hard work and tireless efforts in taking care of the children, the future of the country.
NRH Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Greg Malefoasi thanked both the Prime Minister and Madam Sogavare for taking time to visit the children stating that it meant a lot to the kids and their parents to have them presenting the gifts. Dr. Malefoasi also thanked the Samaritan Purse for inviting the Prime Minister and Madam Sogavare and for organizing the special and memorable event for the kids.
The visit was accompanied by officials from the Prime Minister’s Office, Health Permanent Secretary Mrs. Pauline McNeil, NRH Chief Executive Officer, Dr. George Malefoasi and head of the Pediatric ward Dr Titus Nasi.
The visit concluded with bible stories of Jesus healing the sick and raising the dead with a closing prayer by pastor of the Samaritan Burse.
