A drunken husband got hold of a bush knife then chased his entire family from their home in a village at West Kwaio in Malaita.
Police revealed today that the 48-year-old man is now in custody at the Auki Correctional facilities.
Assistance Commissioner (AC) National Capital and Crime Prevention (NCCP) Simpson Pogeava said man went home drunk and chased his entire family from their house using a bush knife.
Followng his arrest, Pogeava said Auki police have applied for him to be remanded after two cases were established, one for the act against his family and the other was marijuana related.
He said upon the arrest, information received shown that the suspect also cultivated marijuana. Police responded and uprooted 300-plus marijuana plants.
Pogeava appeals to community leaders and people of West Kwaio to stop engaging in activities that are illegal and harmful to the people and look at other ways to generate income.
Furthermore, he said, domestic violence is not accepted in the communities as there are ways to solve problems.
