CSSI farewell late Correctional Officer Augustine Fugui

Officers of the Correctional Service Solomon Islands (CSSI), Permanent Secretary MPNS&CS & staff, family members, other relatives and friends farewelled the late Correctional Officer Augustine Fugui at a funeral service held in the United Pentecostal Church in Honiara on 21 March 2020.

Late Correctional Officer Fugui was called to rest on Tuesday 17 March 2020 at the National Referral Hospital in Honiara after a long illness.

Speaking during the funeral service CSSI Commissioner Gabriel Manelusi says, “I stand here on behalf of my Executive, Deputy Commissioners, Commandants, Directors, all ranks and files of CSSI family throughout Solomon Islands, to acknowledge the life and service of our colleague, the late Correctional Officer Augustine Fugui.”

“Today we come together to honour and remember the good man and Correctional officer that he was. We officers of the CSSI mourn the loss of our colleague. We cannot describe the sadness that all of us experienced over the past few days since the passing away of one of our own,” says Commissioner Manelusi.

“To the wife, Veronica Fugui, two sons, Clence Mane Fugui & Markizana Fugui and his daughter Catherine Fugui and relatives of the late Correctional Officer Fugui, I extend my sincere and humble condolences for the sad and untimely loss of your beloved late Correctional Officer Augustin Fugui.”

“Late Correctional Officer Fugui was enlisted into the Correctional Service Solomon Islands as a Correctional Recruit on 03 March 2014. He was posted to Rove Central Correctional Centre and served under various Units, such as general duty officer, programs officer, intelligence officer and court & escorting officer”.

“On November 2019 he was posted to the Correctional Service Headquarter, Executive Office as a Media Officer where he served till he passed away. He served the CSSI, the Government and people of Solomon Islands for almost six years,” says Commissioner Manelusi.

“During his career with the CSSI the late correctional officer contributed significantly to enhance safety, security and good governance in the maintenance of law and order and ensuring a peaceful Solomon Islands for all. He served the CSSI, Government and his country with distinction. It is my duty to bid him farewell with full correctional honours.”

“To the family, relatives, friends of late Correctional Officer Fugui and the whole of his community, on behalf of the organisation. I acknowledge and recognise the values, love, caring, discipline, prayer life and family support to your late husband that rendered to the government and people of Solomon Islands in the field of Correctional Services supporting your husband and allow late Fugui to join and work in the CSSI for the last six years”.

“I thank you for allowing him to serve with us in the CSSI. Thank you for supporting late Augustine through the many challenges and tough times when he made sacrifices so that he could do his duty,” says Commissioner Manelusi.

“I salute him for his service. So long and farewell colleague. May he rest in eternal and blessed peace with the Lord”

The body of late Correctional Officer Augustine Fugui was finally transported by officers and family members to his home village in Malaita Province on 21 March 2020 for his final rest.
