CPLT and RSIPF visit Kilusakwalo School for awareness programme

CPLT and RSIPF co-organized education and cultural exchange activity at Kilusakwalo School and donated sporting gifts

China Police Liaison Team (CPLT) and officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) co-organized safety education and cultural exchange activities and donated sport items to Kilusakwalo Christian Community High School (KCCHS) on 25 January 2024.

The theme of the activity was ‘Hand in hand, Heart to heart for a beautiful future’.

The aim of the activity was to improve students’ safety awareness, help students better adapt to the study life in the new semester, strengthen the bond between the police and the school, enhance the cultural exchanges between Solomon Islands and China, and create safe and harmonious learning environment.

The donation of the sporting items was part of the activity as the CPLT now has its first visit to Malaita Province this year 2024.

The principal of KCCHS, Mr. John Limaito’o during the school engagement program has thanked the CPLT   for their generosity for such donation of sport equipment for the school.

Mr. Limaito’o said this gift will help the development of sport at KCCHS.

“It is a milestone and a history event, which we will not forget,” he added.

Chief Liaison Officer CPLT Mr. Hao Beijing says, “It is the first time that the Chinese uniform officers come to Malaita. What we have to do is visit the community and the school, because the people’s safety and the education are the most important things for the country.”

Hao said the most vital obligation of police officers is to protect their people. Officers have to get the trust from the community in order to do their job better.

He said but to build trust between the community and the police, the police cannot just show up when something goes wrong. “That is why we are here. The activity we have conducted is ‘a bonding moment’, in which we can become familiar with each other,” he added.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Superintendent Leslie Kili said the CPLT and RSIPF program is an initiative that aims to foster cooperation and collaboration between the local communities. It seeks to enhance mutual understanding and trust.

 Kili said they recognize the importance of building a strong and positive relationship between the Police and the community.

“This relationship is crucial in ensuring the safety and security of our neighbourhoods, and in promoting a sense of trust and partnership between law enforcement and the public. By working together, we can create a safer and more harmonious community for all.

Assistant Commissioner (AC) Provincial Mr. Leonard Tahnimana during his remarks acknowledged the school principal and his management for allowing the RSIPF and CPLT to make a first visit for this year.

AC Tahninana also encouraged the school students to be good students so that they will become a police officer, doctor or lawyer in the future and he thanked the CPLT for donating gifts to the school.
