Communities on the Guadalcanal Plains have assured the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) that they will work together with police to recapture two prison escapees Frank Firimolea and Dilo Faiga who are still at large since 15 December 2019.
The communities gave the assurance during an RSIPF awareness talk on 12 January 2020.
Chief Timothy Vuria from Tenathathi Village near Mbinu said they will work together with police to recapture the two prison escapees.
“I appeal to members of my community in and around Mbinu to see police as your friend. Help our police by providing information that will lead to the recapture of the two prison escapees.
“As we heard from the police, the prison escapees are very dangerous and they need to go back to the Rove Correctional Centre. If they are staying around in our community please pass the information to our police. Our police need us to assist them.”
Team Leader during the Community Engagement, Inspector Stephen Niuhavi told members of the community: “You are the ears and eyes of police. Without you, we cannot recapture them. Therefore, we need you to assist us. We believe that these two prison escapees are here in the Guadalcanal Plains.”
“If you see these two prison escapees please call the police immediately. Police operation on standby at all the times respond to your call. You can call Tetere police on phone 34508 or Henderson police on 36201 or 36200. You can also call the police on 23666 or the free toll line on 999. Police Operation Centre (POC) can be contacted on phone 27895 or 27893.”
During community awareness program police also visited Roghavolo, Tetere Parish-Grove and Good Shepherd Anglican in the Foxwood area.

Inspector Niuhavi explains: “Do not be alarmed by the high visibility of police in and around the Guadalcanal Plains. Police are there to hunt for the two prison escapees. I must make it very clear that there are times police will do some random checks in the areas. So please work with police when we carry our duties. We need your cooperation to avoid any inconveniences.”
Forward Commander Superintendent Edwin Sevoa in the Operation adds: “The two escapees have a history of committing violent crimes and may have access to weapons. As a result, an armed RSIPF presence is required when police is conducting searches to locate the escapees and any person that assists the escapees will be charged for harboring criminals.”
Superintendent Sevoa says, “Report to police if you know who is helping the escapees. And police assure the communities on the Guadalcanal Plains that if you give information, police will protect your communities.”
