Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare has announced today that all domestic restrictions will be lifted at the end of this month.
In his nationwide address, Sogavare said the lifting of restrictions include: domestic shipping and aircrafts so as lifting of restrictions on mass gatherings such as churches, weddings, sporting activities and night clubs. He also announced the lifting of restrictions on international cargo vessels.
However, he emphasized the importance of safe covid-19 protocols and called on the public to continue wearing face masks, use hand-sanitizers and practice social distancing as much as possible.
He said these protocols are important because there is still community transmission in the country.
Since the COVID-19 outbreak in January, the government has imposed restrictions on the movement of boats, ships and aircraft domestically. Amongst the requirements is only those who are fully vaccinated and tested negative are allowed to travel internally.
