The Provincial Executive of Makira Ulawa Province has today issued a strong statement reaffirming that it is the sole and legitimate owner of Okea land near Foxwood, Guadalcanal.

The Office of the Premier wishes to make absolutely clear that the Makira Ulawa Provincial Government (MUPG) is the only legal holder of title and rights over Okea.

It has come to the Government’s attention that certain individuals are making claims of authority over Okea land, whether through alleged Powers of Attorney or through former roles as Directors or Trustees of the now-defunct Makira Belle Company. The Provincial Government stresses that these claims are baseless, misleading, and carry no legal effect over the registered title.

For the record, the Provincial Executive, represented by the Premier, remains the sole and legitimate authority over Okea land. Any competing claims are null and void and cannot override the Provincial Government’s ownership or management rights.

The Premier, Stephen Siapu, further clarifies that the Guadalcanal Provincial Government has no claim or interest in Okea land. On the contrary, Guadalcanal Province has formally acknowledged that full authority and development rights rest exclusively with Makira Ulawa Province.

Accordingly, the Provincial Government issues the following caution:

  1. Any false or misleading claims regarding ownership or authority over Okea land may amount to fraud and misrepresentation. The Government will not hesitate to seek redress before the courts of law.

  2. All genuine grievances must be pursued through proper legal and administrative channels, not through rumour, speculation, or political interference.

  3. The Makira Ulawa Provincial Government remains committed to safeguarding Okea as a strategic provincial asset, to be developed solely for the collective benefit of the people of Makira Ulawa Province.

The Premier reiterates: Okea land is the exclusive property of the Makira Ulawa Provincial Government. No individual, private entity, or external party has any lawful standing to interfere with its ownership, management, or development.
