Police say not all the posts on facebook about alleged abduction of children from schools were true.
Assistant Commissioner (AC) National Capital and Crime Prevention (NCCP), Simpson Pogeava told journalist today that all information that came on social media about abduction was not true.
He cited one example at Tamlan School this morning when somebody posted about abduction there but when they enquired with the teachers, they were not aware of any incidents at the school.
“They told us nothing like that happened,” he added.
In addition, Deputy Commission of RSIPF Ian Vaevesa said one similar incident happened at Bishop Epalle School this morning in which they got a report that two men were going there to abduct children. “This was not true because when we checked the school, they were not aware of such reports,” said Vaevesa.
He warned that in such times people would spread speculation to cause fear amongst “our people”.
Vaevesa said regardless of that they are taking each report seriously and are dealing with it.
Meanwhile Pogeava has also confirmed that so far only one case of alleged abduction was reported to police from SINU Kukum Campus.
