Petition against Sogavare filed in High Court

Former Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare is the latest name to be added to the petition list following the filing of a petition against him late yesterday by losing candidate David Qurusu.

Deputy Registrar of the High Court Jack Taloifuila confirmed this morning that the petition was filed just before 3pm yesterday.

He added that all required legal fees were paid by the petitioner, Qurusu.

Qurusu was the runner up to Sogavare in the East Choiseul Constituency, which the former PM now minister of finance is the MP.

Meanwhile, the MP for North East Guadalcanal Jammie Vokia is also facing a petition filed against him by Bradley Lenga.

Lenga submitted the petition yesterday.

Vokia was amongst the two who lost their seats in petitions following the 2019 Elections. The other being the former MP for East Honiara, the late John Moffat Fugui.

The deadline for petitions is 3pm today (Thursday 30 May).
