A heavy rain alert is now in force for the entire country with a possibility of landslide and flash flooding in low lying areas, the weather office in Honiara warns.
The Solomon islands meteorological service (SIMS) in its heavy rain alert number one issued this morning says there is a trough of low pressure lies over the northern parts of Solomon Islands with associated cloud and heavy rain are expected to affect most provinces within the next 24 to 48 hours.
It says such localised heavy rain may lead to possible landslide and flash flooding over communities living near hill slopes, close to large rivers, streams and low lying areas.
