The government has allocated $330m to the Constituency Development Fund for 2025 in what the Minister of Finance and Treasury Manasseh Sogavare described as “designed to improve livelihood of communities.”
This is an increase from this year’s allocation which was over $200 million.
Speaking in Parliament last week, Minister of Finance and Treasury Manasseh Sogavare said under constituency rural development, support of $330 million is provided towards CDF Program. This is designed to improve Livelihood of Communities.
He said the government expects to increase participation of rural communities in local economic activities and improvement in social and economic infrastructures in communities throughout the 50 constituencies.
With the $330m allocation, each constituency is expected to receive $6.6m each.
Meanwhile, in the health sector, Sogavare said the government is allocating around $44 million, of which $32 million is allocated towards building eight Area Health Centres and Rural Health Centres including medical equipment in sixprovinces in 2025.
“The people of our beloved country should be grateful because the government is commited to continue to bring free health care services to our people,” he said.
Sogavare last week delivered the government’s $4.8 billion estimates for 2025 financial year under the theme “Accelerating Accountable and Transformative Investments: A Pathway Towards A Resilient and Sustainable Economy,”Sogavare said the government’s transformational agenda is reflected under the four foundational pillars.
