Ambassador Walegerea briefed Sir David and his delegation on the establishment and the roles of the Embassy, highlighting the potential areas, especially for trade and economic cooperation available to the Solomon Islands.

“Since establishing our Mission in 2024, our small team is exploring trade and investment opportunities that are available to us for further cooperation,” Ambassador Walegerea said.

“This region offers plenty of opportunities that can benefit us if we strategically position ourselves to enhance our relations with them,” he added.

Sir David congratulated Ambassador Walegerea and his staff for representing the country in the UAE and the Gulf Region, highlighting the important task given to them by the Solomon Islands Government.

“I encourage you to continue to explore opportunities and areas of cooperation that can mutually benefit our countries and peoples,” Sir David said.

Sir David highlighted that enhancing economic cooperation with the UAE and the Gulf region has the potential to drive the growth of bilateral trade and investment relations to new horizons.

The UAE and the Solomon Islands share strong economic ties with the Solomon Islands offering several attractive investment opportunities for UAE companies.

Sir David believed that opening the Solomon Islands Embassy in the UAE last year marked an important step in enhancing bilateral cooperation across various fields, including diplomacy and economic trade.
