Honiara, Solomon Islands – A groundbreaking partnership between Pan Oceanic Bank (POB) and Our Telekom’s mobile money service, M-SELEN, is redefining the financial landscape of the Solomon Islands.

This strategic alliance unites two of the nation’s most trusted local institutions in a shared mission to deliver accessible, reliable, and inclusive financial services—particularly for communities in rural and remote areas.

Through this collaboration, POB customers can now seamlessly transfer funds to their M-SELEN wallets and access them through a vast network of over 2,500+ M-SELEN agents across the country.

“This marks a major step forward in bringing seamless banking experiences to our customers, no matter where they live,” said Majidul Haque, Head of M-SELEN.

This innovation eliminates the need for costly travel to bank branches and addresses long-standing barriers to financial access. In many cases, customers can save up to SBD $500 per trip by accessing services in their own communities.

Beyond technology, this partnership is a direct response to public demand and a collective national vision.

“This is a partnership by locals, for locals,” said Christina Lasaqa, the CEO of Our Telekom.

“It’s not competition—it’s ecosystem building.”

Looking ahead, the two institutions plan to introduce real-time digital banking capabilities through API integration.

“This is just the first step,” said Upul Hettiarachchi, Pan Oceanic Bank General Manager.

“With only two branches, we’ve long wanted to reach rural communities. This partnership finally gives us that opportunity—and we’re committed to growing from here.”

The collaboration empowers market vendors, farmers, and small businesses—fostering safer, more efficient transactions and broader participation in the digital economy.

It is being celebrated as a milestone in the Solomon Islands’ journey toward financial inclusion, digital transformation, and economic empowerment.
