A Major Investment in Education and Youth Development Across the Solomon Islands

Our Telekom is proud to announce the launch of its inaugural School Sponsorship Programme, a comprehensive initiative designed to strengthen educational infrastructure, promote digital learning, and foster youth development across the Solomon Islands. This programme represents the first phase of what will become a scalable, sustainable annual commitment to partnering with schools in both urban and rural settings.

Programme Highlights

The School Sponsorship Programme will support participating institutions by providing:

  • Enhanced internet connectivity tailored to each school’s capacity and student population

  • Robust network security, including firewall and antivirus coverage

  • Professional domain and email services

  • Internal local-area network (LAN) setup to connect computer labs and administrative offices

  • Licensed software, such as Windows 11 and Microsoft Office, Anti-virus, to enable modern curricula delivery

These resources have been carefully selected to address the key technological and operational needs of schools and to help prepare students for a digitally driven future. Under this initiative, Our Telekom is sharing sponsorship costs with schools on a 50–50 basis, ensuring an equitable partnership that promotes investment in technology and capacity building.

Alignment with Youth and Educational Development

Our Telekom recognises that academic growth and recreational engagement go hand in hand. In addition to the sponsorship programme, the company has recently signed an agreement with the Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development (MEHRD) to becoming a major sponsor of the Solomon Islands School Games (SISSG) 2025, alongside the Solomon Islands Government aimed at encouraging healthy competition, team-building, and extracurricular participation. This two-pronged approach underscores Our Telekom’s holistic strategy, focused on empowering young people both inside and outside the classroom.

Application and Selection Process

The School Sponsorship Programme will open to schools across the Solomon Islands. Interested institutions are encouraged to apply promptly. A limited number of places are available for this initial round, and selections will be made through an internal evaluation process based on infrastructure readiness, educational need, and alignment with long-term development objectives.

Future Vision

This sponsorship marks just the beginning. Our Telekom intends to grow and refine the programme in the coming years, expanding both its reach and impact. The goal is to support an increasing number of schools, continually adapting to their evolving technological and educational needs, and to deepen our investment in the next generation of leaders and professionals in the Solomon Islands.
