A man who was attacked by thieves in the Bahai area and attempted to escape was accidentally hit by a vehicle. He later died at the National Referral Hospital. And whilst the driver of the vehicle that hit the deceased was arrested, the three attackers are still at large.
Director of National Traffic Department (NTD), Superintendent William Foufaka said the NTD of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) have been investigating the fatal accident.

According to Foufaka, the deceased with other two friends were walking down the westerly direction walk path at the Bahai bus stop and when they met a group of boys’ they decided to cross the road to easterly direction.
He said they crossed the road to avoid three other boys– but the attackers quickly approached them from the back and one of them grabbed a speaker (music box) owned by the deceased.
It was alleged that the deceased held on tightly to the speaker while another suspect hit the deceased on his left hand, back shoulder and so he fell unconsciously onto the ground.
Foufaka said the deceased managed to stand up after being unconscious and attempted to escape across the road but was unfortunately hit by an advancing vehicle on the east bound lane.
The director said the other two friends of the deceased escaped thinking that he also escaped from the suspects.
The driver (defendant) in relation to the fatal accident was arrested and charged while the thieves (suspects) who physically assaulted the deceased resulting in fatal accident are still at large.
