Since its establishment less than two years ago, M-Selen has been a revolution – one of which is it has helped customers to save over $73m by avoiding taking costly trips to do financial transactions.
This was one of the disclosures to the recent Pacific Islands Technology Association (PITA) conference held in Honiara that attracted participation from the Pacific and beyond.
Prior to the establishment of M-Selen in June 2023, thousands of rural people including teachers and nurses had to travel to financial institutions (banks or their agents) in most of the urban centres in the province.
However, since the founding of M-Selen it has significantly reduced travel time and the financial burden on the cost of travels.
According to the report, customers are currently saving $73m in expensive travels to urban centres with the availability of M-Selen agents in the provinces.
M-Selen currently has 2350 agents nationwide and has continue to grow.
Also, stunningly, over $100 million is processed monthly – an amount of money that had not been captured prior to the entry of M-Selen.
