The nationwide liquor ban for Solomon Islands enforced by the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) was lifted today 3 May 2024.

Vaevaso said since the election of the Prime Minister was successful and peaceful, “we decided to lift the liquor ban so that those who have licensed liquor shops continue with their business.”

He said even though the liquor ban was lifted police operation will still continue to keep our city and people safe and should there be any incident police will intervene and deal with those who are causing disturbance in our communities.

Vaevaso said that the police high visibility operation will be conducting traffic checks along our roads to make it safe.

“So please do not drink alcohol and drive on our roads. Police will conduct patrols and set up traffic checks on our roads over the weekend,” he said.

He said playing loud music while under the influence of liquor after late hours in our communities is an offence and please stop that and have respect for our people in the communities.

Please drink beer responsibly.
