The groundbreaking for Solomon Water’s upgrading at Noro /Ziata Source is set for tomorrow (3rd April).

The ceremony to be held at Ziata water source will kick start a major upgrading works to the SIWA facility which supplies water to the industrial town in Noro and its residents of just under ten thousand people.

It is the first major task specifically targeting aged facilities at the water source, treatment plant and a adjacent water tank located some from the main water works .

Work is due to complete about a year and half from now and an international company has been contracted to undertake the task- Emco/Reeves Co.

The Noro project has an estimated value of about $40m.

In the brief project phase, locals are expected to benefit from project employment, such security to semi and skilled manpower.

A dozen of SIWA Delegates are due in Munda later today in time for the groundbreaking ceremony expected at mid morning tomorrow, Thursday 3rd March.

A working MOU in fact has been signed jointly between SIWA, Left-hand Kazukuru land and Government at the end of last year in Honiara – which herald a sign moving forward.

Also it’s an acknowledgement of all parties to work together for mutual benefits. Kazukuru Landowners thanked the Manele led Government for itssupport and leading all talks which concluded successfully.
