The once popular Public Works Department (PWD) is back with a Cabinet Sub-Committee been established to work on its revitalization.

Prime Minister Jeremiah Manele today confirmed that a sub-committee to be chaired by a government backbencher will be responsible for the revitalization of PWD and also the Road and Transport Authority under the Ministry of Infrastructure Development.

He said the establishment of Government Sub-Committees have proved to be very useful mechanism in the delivery of key government policies as in the DBSI and the reopening of Gold Ridge.

The PM added that the minister of infrastructure development has also agreed to the establishment of the committee and the PMO and MID will be working on it.

PWD in the past was responsible for managing various public works projects, including road maintenance, bridge construction, drainage systems, and wharf management.
