The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions in Honiara has introduced an electronic time attendance to monitor staff movement.
Director of DPP Andrew Kelesi this morning received two electronic time attendance biometric system from Smart Technology-Solomon Islands, which will be used to monitor his officers.
Kelesi said: “As part of ongoing efforts to ensure that our officers are accountable and transparent and adhere to the SIG general orders, this morning the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions Solomon Islands took delivery of two electronic time attendance biometric systems from Smart Technology-Solomon Islands.”
He said with this machine, “we will be able to monitor staff movements and ensure they are at their workplace during government official hours.”
Kelesi said whilst the machines monitor officers’ attendances, it is also a way for him to gauge the work output of his officers and their attitude to work.
It is also an opportunity for him to speak to his officers on any issues that they may have additionally, the DPP adds, the machines would help complement their existing internal system where officers are tasked to monitor.
He thanked Australia, through the Australia Solomon Islands Justice Program (ASIPJ), for the assistance in securing the machines.
