The Honiara City Council (HCC) is continuing with its clean-up campaign exercise as its Law Enforcement Unit together with the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) pulled down a number of betel nut market stalls at the Town-Ground area today.
This came a day after it started the clean-up operation and arrested 13 betel nut street sellers from the Central market street to the ITA hardware on Wednesday 8 January, 2020.
City Clerk Rence Sore earlier said the clean-up campaign in collaboration with the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) will continue for an unspecified period.
The joint operation with the RSIPF is an effort to ensure a clean environment to the City.
Mr Sore call upon vendors to abide by the laws, as their selling practices are illegal and it’s a serious crime.
The City Clerk has appealed to Honiara residents and Solomon Islanders to take ownership of the Honiara city, and make it a peaceful environment to live in.
Public commended the HCC new administration for the successful operations and in taking the lead to ensure Honiara a clean City, as a window to the world.
