The Makira Ulawa Provincial Council of Women (MUPCW) joins the immediate families and the people of Makira to demand justice for the late Stephanus Wainamo who was murdered over the weekend in Honiara.
Stephanus, a former student of Waimapuru NSS who destined to accomplish his dream of becoming a pilot,ready to do his studies in Philippines ended his life journey over the weekend by what the women describe as an inhuman act, selfish, greedy and thoughtless people who murdered him.
In a statement tonight, Edith Kaoho, the President of Makira Ulawa Provincial Ccouncil of Women said: “We stand united with his mother and all mothers of Makira to demand justice for our beloved son.”
She added: “There is no future, no hope, no expectation any more. No graduation ceremonies, no garlanding, no celebrations. No nothing is there for us mothers. All is wasted because of selfishness, greedy and inhumanaction.”
“We demand justice. We appeal to the National Government to seriouly take steps to address issues involving illegal activities, engaging in stealling, kwaso, doing nothing.”
Kaohao said: “We also appeal to institutions like USP, SINU to provide a more conducive environment for study and safe residence for their students to avoid renting in unsafe areas in town.”
The women of Makira/Ulawa have also called on their leaders to starting pushing for the establishment of a university in the province.
“We can’t sit back and watch our students strugging for Education in an unsafe environment like Honiara. So it’s time to act for the rights of the future of Makira Children in Education,”
