Police Commissioner Mostyn Mangau has vowed to deal with any officer(s) who supplied a police communication radio to civilians—which his officers had retrieved recently.

Mangau confirmed to journalists this week that his officers had repossessed the radio which was given to a member of a public.

He added those who were in possession of the radio were also arrested.

Mangau further confirmed that the radio was issued to a police officer.

He stated that a police investigation is underway on how the radio had fell into the hands of the public.

“It is a very serious concern,” he said. “This is a leakage of security information. Police will seriously look at it. As long as I get the findings of the investigation – stern action will be taken on this matter,” he told journalists.

He said for such things (radio) to fall in the hands of outsiders, it raises a big question and it does not look good for the police force.

“My office is taking this matter seriously,” he said.

At the same time, Mangau confirmed that those in possession of the radio were not linked to the recent allegations of kidnap and abduction.
