Rennell and Bellona Province will now access the Provincial Capacity Development Fund (PCDF) funding for the first time in several years after the Derek Pongi government passed all assessments for the 2022/2023 financial year.

“It is my pleasure to announce, on behalf of our Provincial Government, that Rennell Bellona Province has achieved a significant milestone by passing the PCDF assessment for 2022/23 FY (financial year),” said premier Pongi.

The Provincial Capacity Development Fund (PCDF) is administered through a performance based grants. This requires provinces to perform to a certain level in financial management to qualify for the Annual PCDF allocation. With that, the provincial financial accounts are subject to an independent audit to determine the performances of provinces in a financial year.

This audit has been carried out in the several months since the new Pongi government had come into power resulting in Renbel going back to the list and will start benefit under PCDF which the province had been missing out from.

“I’m glad we will be able to access PCDF funds to help our people. More than that, we now break this continuous cycle of failing PCDF assessments in Rennell Bellona Province,” Pongi told SBMOnline tonight.

“I would like to sincerely thank our dedicated Executive of the Rennell Bellona Alliance for Reform and Progress Government, our acting Provincial Secretary, and the hardworking administrative staff, as well as the PAC committee members, non executive members, for their contributions in making this possible. I would also like to thank MPGIS for their support. Finally, but not the least,I would like to thank my good people for their prayers and support,” the premier said.
