SIBC Board and management conveyed their thank you to the Prime Minister for welcoming the proposal, giving time to listen to their vision for the State Owned Enterprise going forward.

Prime Minister and Minister for Broadcasting, Hon. Manasseh Sogavare said, the Corporation must continue to strive to cope with media challenges in the 21st century and beyond.

Content wise, there’s no shortage of local content by the National broadcaster, Prime Minister Sogavare noted.

He adds, Solomon Islands prepares to host the 2023 Pacific Games, the State Owned broadcaster should take ownership and lead in broadcasting the regional event.

The rise in misinformation in the local media is a concern. This needs to be controlled.  The developments SIBC is pursuing is directly in line with the policy of the government of the day.

As agreed on during the meeting, SIBC will further discuss the project with officials in the Office of the Prime Minister and Cabinet.
