SIPA, Major Sponsor of 2021 National Oratory Speech Competition

Solomon Ports is proud to be a major sponsor of the annual 2021 Nation Oratory Speech Competition this month in Honiara.

A handover ceremony was held this week at SIPA headquarters in Point Cruz, where SIPA’s Chief Financial O cer Mr.George Rausi handed over a cheque of SBD$25,000 to the competition’s organizing committee.

The competition will be held at the St.Barnabas Hall in Honiara on the 8th of September and will feature 24 schools from around the country.

It will feature three categories of Junior from primary school, intermediate from forms 1 to 3, and senior from forms 4 to form 6.

This year’s edition will be bigger, as it will feature more school’s than last year, which was only 8 schools, and will also coincide with this year’s ‘World Literacy Day’.

Speaking during the handover ceremony, the competition’s chairman Mr. Desmond Waita thanked SIPA for this important donation.

Mr. Waita said this will certainly be a boost to the competition’s rollout, especially seeing more schools attending this year’s edition.

“We want to thank SIPA for being a major sponsor and recognizing the need to empower our young generation, “he said.

“We believe this competition will enhance the students’ English and oratory skills and will also give them more con dence to carry out public speaking.”

In response, SIPA’s Chief Financial O cer Mr. George Rausi said the port was glad in supporting the competition, as it was the rst time for SIPA to support such national school competitions.

He said SIPA is glad to support student’s in improving their public speaking skills and con dence.

“We would like to thank the committee for organizing such great initiative and we are happy to support this,” he said.

“It is good to see students coming out and engage in discussing important issues that matter and also coming together with students from other schools and learning from each other.”
