Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Western Province, Chief Superintendent Mathias Lenialu says the Liquor ban came about when the Lofung ground breaking committee made a request to ban or selling of liquor in Shortland Islands recently.

PPC Lenialu says the ban of selling liquor will impose on the following dates: Monday 21st, Tuesday 22nd, Wednesday 23rd, and Thursday 24th June 2021.

Consumption of alcohol, wine, beer, liquor and other intoxicated beverages in public places are likewise, and with greater emphasize, prohibited during the said period.

Mr Lenialu warns that police will fully implement and monitor the liquor ban. Anyone breaches the liquor ban will be dealt accordingly to the rule of law. I kindly ask our good people in Shortland Islands to work together during this liquor ban.
