ONLY in-country SIG scholarships for 2021


Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare has just announced that Government Scholarships for this year will only for in-country students.

The Government each year sends hundreds of students to study in regional universities and beyond.

SBMOnline understands that the government sponsors students to study in Australia, New Zealand, the Philippines as key places besides Fiji, PNG and Vanuatu.

Sogavare said in his second address to the nation on COVID-19 this afternoon that his government has decided to award in country scholarships only due to COVID-19 & the State of Public Emergency.

In-country support could only mean that the Solomon Islands National University and some for students who are studying at the University of the South Pacific (USP), SI Centre.

Those wanting to benefit from SIG Scholarships have until the end of this month to apply online.
