The Solomon Island Police Development Program (SIPDP) have handed over a large quantity of food and other household items to Seif Ples at the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Headquarters in Rove, Honiara on 8 December 2020 as part of the Program’s support for the 16 Days of Activism against gender based violence.

SIPDP Commander, Heath Davies says, “The 16 Days of Activism is a global campaign dedicated to ending gender-based violence (GBV).  It commenced on 25 November with the ‘International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women’ and concludes on 10 December, with ‘Human Rights Day’. This year’s theme for the Solomon Islands is: ‘Orange the World – Preventing and Responding to GBV in times of COVID19 Emergency’.”

Commander Davies says, “Over the past 12 months, the SIPDP have continued to support the RSIPF through capacity development to improve the way the RSIPF responds to and manages GBV, through the Gender Project and Advisor support in Family Violence coordination, and Family Violence and Sexual Assault Investigations.”

“SIPDP is proud to continue our support for Seif Ples.  The donations for Seif Ples are contributions from SIPDP Advisors and their families and friends back in Australia.  This is our personal way of supporting and raising awareness for ending Gender Based Violence in Solomon Islands.”

Seif Ples Acting Deputy Centre Manager Clara Rouikera thanked SIPDP saying, “We are extremely grateful to SIPDP for your ongoing support for Seif Ples over the past three and a half years.  We will now be able to place some small gifts under our Christmas tree and the food items will help us get through the busy Christmas period where we often see an increase need for our services.” //End
