Gov’t commissions Sisilo as high commissioner designate to Australia

Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare has appointed His Excellency (H.E.) Robert Sisilo as the High Commissioner – designate of Solomon Islands to Australia.

The commissioning ceremony was held at the Office of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (OPMC) recently.

During the commissioning ceremony, H. E Sisilo also received his Letters of Introduction from Prime Minister Sogavare who also congratulated him on his appointment.

As part of the ceremony, the Prime Minister also delivered the Charge to H.E Sisilo and stated that as High Commissioner to Australia his task is to represent and promote the interests of the Government of Solomon Islands in the Australia.

“The Government and people of Solomon Islands expect you to provide sound advice and deliberation on all matters during your tenure in office,” he stated.

Prime Minister Sogavare also stated, “You are the link between Solomon Islands Government and the Government of the country to which you have been accredited. In true Solomon Islands tradition, your office and home will be the safe haven for Solomon Islanders in times of need.”

“Striking a balance between the effective discharge of your mission and minimizing costs require tact and diplomacy,” he stated.

“Your choice as Head of Mission is, therefore, no accident. I am confident that you are eminently fitted, both in your personal qualities and experience in the affairs of State for the charge the Government of Solomon Islands has entrusted on you and to which you have now pledged your allegiance,” Prime Minister Sogavare further stated.

The Prime Minister concluded by conveying well wishes to H.E Sisilo and his family for his posting.

The Commission ceremony was also witnessed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and External Trade (MFAET) Hon. Jeremiah Manele, MP and officials from the MFAET and OPMC.
